Cupcakes and Macarons – what more can I ask for!

I decided to have two towers for our wedding cake (groom still does not know price!)

80 macarons from Laduree – I HAD to do it! Also around 150 cupcakes from Crumbs and Doilies. I was surprised there were some left at the end of the night – they were sooooo delicious!

I had 4 bridesmaids, 3 friends and my cousin (chief bm) – they did fantastic jobs! Thanks to the groomsmen too!

Tried to go for vintage peach and grey – I think they look great!

We got our bouquets, button holes, corsages, petals from Harleys Flowers – Harley owns a small business down the road from us, and offered us a good price! She did a great job!

DIY invitations

Being into graphic design and working in desktop publishing, I felt obliged to make my own stationery! Its my passion and what I love doing. And I didn’t want my stationery to be generic wedding stationery which tends to be quite expensive and samey! I wanted to personalise it, and it also gave me control over how I wanted it done. Of course, the downside is that it is a LOT more hard work and VERY time-consuming – but I think it was worth it!

From start to finish, here is what I did! For my vintage theme, and the fact that my dress was lace, I wanted to incorporate lace into my invite. I set out to hobby craft and bought a whole load of materials to make my prototypes.

I knew I wanted our initials on there, and also something simple. But I didn’t think these worked for me! The lace was hard to work with, and to make 60+ of them was just too much work.

Although I liked the lace backing of this, it kept peeling off, so I realised I had to drop the lace idea!

So, after giving up on lace, I explored other options. With my love of baking, I decided to used doilies! They are cheap to buy, and have that lovely vintage lace effect! So I gave it a go….
